Emily's First Swim

Emily took her first swim on Saturday. Emily, Grandma and I went up to the Hotel Savery while Nate and Grandpa enjoyed behind the scenes access at the Iowa Speedway Indy Corn 250. Nate received a weekend getaway at work which included tickets to the Iowa Speedway as well as two rooms at the hotel. We decided to take advantage and headed to the pool. We had just started swimming when in walked 10 people wearing Australia swimsuits. They were of course here for the Hy-Vee Triathlon. They seemed to be just finishing up there workout and Emily really enjoyed watching them go back and fourth between an ice bath and the hot tub. Yes, she enjoyed the water too. The athletes were all very nice to Emily. I guess we will always remember Emily's first swim. Who knows maybe we will see her new friends again at the Olympics!

The Best Dad Ever...

Happy Fathers Day Nate! Emily and I love you very much. Emily is lucky to have you as a Dad. Emily's favorite thing about her Dad is his ability to whistle. She giggles when Nate whistles a familiar tune. We spent the day traveling to Bloomfield to attend church with Nate's Family. We grilled out for lunch and Emily's Grandma A. made some delicious food just for her. It was a fun but tiring day.

Emily Loves Books

Emily loves books, and I am so thrilled because I love reading to her. I am always amazed with all the toys she has that play music and flash lights, she always seems to gravitate towards books. As you can see in the pictures she really likes to take them off of her shelf as well.

Trouble is My Middle Name

As you can see Emily has mastered yet another skill. She loves to stand and wants to do it all the time. Baby-proofing has become our hobby!

Trip to Pella

We ventured to Pella for a quick day trip. My Aunt Cindy was here from Denver so we went and had lunch and then did some shopping. We ate at Straw Town Inn. We all really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere is so neat and historic. We also had to pick up a pair of wooden shoes for Emily's special shelf.

Two Teeth!

This morning Emily greeted me with a big smile as she does every morning. This morning was a bit different. Staring back at me were two white tips of her bottom teeth. I was so excited and then just a little sad as my baby is turning into a toddler. Crawling and teeth in the same week!

I know in the picture the teeth are hard to see, but I tried!
